Maui Accomodation Suggestions

When we fill all the rooms at our retreat facility we will then recommend you stay in the immediate area at one of several B&B’s. We can recommend Maui Eco-Retreat and Spyglass Maui (below) but the rest are just a sampling of what is available online And of course their's a plefora of hotels on hot sandy beaches an hour or more away in Wailea, as in the Grand Wailea Resort or the Four Seasons, etc...

In HUELO - The Immediate Rural Area of the retreat

The Maui Eco-Retreat or “Maui Retreat”   http://mauiretreat.com/main/

Approx $145 and up per nite

Spectacular rooms and location run superbly green and off the grid by Daniel’s old friends,Kutira & Raphael.

About 3/4 of a mile away on dirt roads.

Windward Gardens http://www.windwardgardenbandb.com

Lo $150 -$175 per nite plus $50 cleaning fee.

Also very rural and only about about 2 or 3 miles away.

In HAIKU - 20 minute drive to nearest town from retreat

The Bamboo Valley Inn   http://www.bamboovalleyinn.makeswebsites.com

Under $200 this old Zen Monastery has been a favorite getaway for decades.

The Haiku Plantation Inn http://www.haikuleana.net

At $150 to $165 this B&B has the distinction of being located next door to Maui’s “Temple Of Peace” which is a hot spot for all things kirtan and more!  Daniel Paul & Gina Salá lead kirtan there occasionally too!

The Haiku Cannery Inn http://haikucanneryinn.com

$115 to $190 very close to the old local Haiku Town Center.

PAIA  - 25 minute drive to closest beaches

There are B & B’s and funky surf hostels in Paia from fancy to modest. Try google.

Spyglass Maui http://www.mauispyglass.com

Rooms start at $110. Very near the ocean. Talk to Poni and mention Daniel Paul sent ya.

Mangolani Inn http://www.mauipaia.com

Ku’au Inn       http://www.kuauinn.com

Simple rooms at $115 in great location near Paia and the ocean.

Kahului / Wailuku - 45 minutes drive but very close to the Kahului Airport

There are several hostels that we know nothing about. This area is our downtown major business district.

The Banana Bungalow Hostel   http://www.bananabungalows.com

$90   Has free tour bus rides and cool things.

The Maui Seaside Hotel http://www.mauiseasidehotel.com

$90 to $150 Closest moderately priced hotel. Right on the bay with canoe clubs,

massive cruise liners and commercial ships.  Great one night stay if you’re flying in late.

Island Wide

Craigslist.       http://honolulu.craigslist.org/search/mau/sub

Sublets of a week or more can get down to $20 or $30 a nite,

more like $50 short term, but you never know what you might find.

You can post your needs too!

WHAT TO DO?

While you’re here

Escape to Hana              http://hanamaui.com

One of Maui’s most special places to visit, isolated Hana is a 2 hour drive down the famous very curvy “Hana Hwy” with something like 50 little one lane bridges to navigate through deep jungle over endless streams and waterfalls. It’s best to spend 2 nights there (or Kipahulu) to slow down and explore the beaches (Red Sands) and hike the waterfalls at 7 Sacred Pools.  Not much night-life, Hana town is a very small laid back ranch town with a great restaurant, 2 food stands, 2 stores & 1 gas station! That’s basicly it.

Travaasa Hotel http://www.travaasa.com

This is the legendary Hana Hotel. The only hotel in the earea. 5 Star rates and the one restaurant in town.

Has a dozen nice bungalows right on the shoreline at Red Sand Beach. Unbelievablely spectacular!

This web-site has B&B’s all over the island but lot’s in Hana or Kipahulu. http://www.hanamaui.com/lodging/
