August 2008 - Quick Link to Daniels Concert Dates

 Tabla Daniel

Fulbright Award winning Tabla drummer Daniel Paul has
played a lifetime of world music with many diverse
artists  who share his love for the sacred music of
India. From the strictly classical musicians and
dancers of the Ali Akbar College of Music, to the
modern techno-laced chants of Lost at Last, and now
accompanying the driving (kirtan) vocals of 2003
Grammy nominee Jai Uttal, Daniel continues to teach
and tour world-wide, introducing new audiences to the
ecstatic rhythms of the Tabla.
Concert Dates 2008.

A past graduate/instructor of the Ali Akbar College of
Music (1984), for nine years Daniel immersed himself
exclusively in the classical music of India's
legendary maestros: Ustad Ali Akbar Khan; Sri Zakir
Hussain; Sri Jnan Ghosh and Sri Swapan Chauduri.  As
maestro Khan's personal assistant for six years, he
managed and produced concerts and recordings
throughout the world, accompanying on the stringed
drone instrument (tamboura).   As composer and
recording artist, Daniel has contributed to a vast
myriad of projects, but as one of few artists on a
rare melodic drum set (Tabla Tarong), he has also
released two world fusion CDs of his own, "Rhythms Of
Paradise" and "Between Two Worlds".

Daniel currently resides in Hawaii where he teaches private Tabla lessons and drum workshops.  Recent tours, past and future will find him with Jai Uttal in Brazil, Guatemala, the Virgin Islands, and across the USA at many workshops including Omega, Esalen, Naropa, Mt. Madonna and Breitenbush Hot Springs.
